Learning the basics is a fundamental requirement toward mastery of any subject, but making people dependent, stifles creativity and innovation. Yoga is a science, and an art of living, that constantly evolves. There are many forms of Yoga, and all of them are continuing to grow exponentially.
There are many physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual benefits realized through the consistent practice of Hatha Yoga. Below are five of the physical benefits that students will receive from diligent practice. It is agreed that there are many more benefits that result from regular Hatha Yoga sessions, and I will get to them in future articles.

According to Yogic philosophy, as described in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, “bitter, sour, hot, green vegetables….Food heated again, dry, having too much salt, sour, minor grains, and vegetables that cause burning sensation, should not be eaten.”
If one is able to balance the Ajna chakra, this will promote intuition, awareness, and self-mastery. The Ajna chakra (third eye) is the sixth main chakra within the seven chakra system. One way to activate this chakra is to practice Udgeeth pranayama.
With regard to Yoga - The therapeutic application of Yogic techniques is holistic. For example: Bhakti (devotion) has a medicinal benefit for one’s mental, emotional, and spiritual states of well being, even though it can be classified as a non-physical form of Yoga. How is this possible?
Even though the first two earlier sessions were filled with physical exercise, we cannot forget that we are Hatha Yoga teachers. The entire class is the full Yogic experience for the students.
This sequence is just one of many possibilities. It is only for athletes and students in good health with no medical conditions. These students want to push their athletic limits. Hatha Yoga for therapeutic application is wonderful, but my athletic students want a serious challenge and this gives them what they seek.
